Have made some progress! The quilt top is done and it’s all pinned to the batting and backing. Just need to quilt it and bind the edges and it will be done. Trying to decide whether to do a simple machine quilt or hand quilt it – no experience at either so it will be a learning experience either way :)

Sammie has written 5 entries about this goal
Inspired by our visit to the quilt show today I was able to snatch a few minutes to sew a few more squares together tonight. All the rows are done now, I’ve just got to sew the last four rows to the main section and add a border and the top will be done.
It’s by no means perfect, so many flaws! But so far it has been a huge learning experience, and lots of fun too.
24 blocks down, 40 to go. It’s quite difficult to line the blocks up properly. I’m thinking perhaps I should have moved the second row of blocks along half a block to give a kind of brick effect. It would have made matching the corners up a lot easier!
Okay, I finally figured out how to change the goal. It’s no longer “Make a mini quilt”, it’s now “Make a pram quilt”.
As for progress, I have all my materials washed, dried and ready to go. The quilt’s going to be roughly 80×80cm, probably just a tad smaller. This is about the same size as the baby wrap I currently use to keep Jag warm on our walks and tucks around his legs in the pram/stroller nicely.
Now I just need to decide on the square size and start cutting out the pieces.
I’m on my way with this. It’s not going to be so much a mini quilt, more like a pram quilt. It’s still quite small though – smaller than a cot quilt anyway ;-) (I’d change the goal but I can’t find the Edit option any more??)
This will be my first ever quilt, so I’m considering it a bit of a practice run. I’m going with the ragged edges quilt idea because it’s quick and easy. Looking at doing a cowboy theme.
