Ulysses - Why screw around with the easy titles? 6 months ago

I’m languishing in Night Town right now. Hoping to finish Ulysses and then find a couple more audio titles for the daily commute.

I better live a long, long time!

Dead Souls 17 months ago

I finally finished Dead Souls. There’s apparently other good Gogol out there.

Dead Souls 18 months ago

Mr. Fadiman tells me he assumes that I have a familiarity with the Bible, so I am listening to the whole deal while commuting to work. Concurrently, I am reading Dead Souls, by Gogol.

A Respite 18 months ago

I’ve gotten off track but I’ve put a pretty good dent in the list over the years, so no worries. I’ve recently Read a number of titles not on the list (Omnivores Dilemma, Zuleika Dobson, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek) and I’m onto another one not on the list: The Bible.

Edith Wharton 21 months ago

I’ve finished The Age of Innocence as well as the House of Mirth.

Untitled 23 months ago

I finished Orlando and As I Lay Dying. I’m a bit tired of stream-of-consciousness novels for now. What next?

Finished Camus 23 months ago

I’m reading Orlando now. I’ve already read Mrs. Dalloway and To the Lighthouse. This one is a tad more fanciful and the time period isn’t a day or two, like those previous two Woolf novels. It’s more like 300 years. Orlando starts as a 16 year old male and ends up a 36-year old female.

Finishing Camus 23 months ago

I’m 2/3 done with The Plague. I read the Stranger 2 years ago. Gloomy dude!

I'm well on my way 23 months ago

I’ve read about 70 of the recommended titles. I have an hour of commuting time each day, so I look forward to finding audiobook versions of these great books. I also rely heavily on online study guides, watching movie versions, listening to abridged versions, etc. Rather than spoiling the reading experience, these other activities help me enjoy the unabridged versions even more.
