last night of a bracelet converting old watch faces into photo frames for bracelets. 40s or earlier… would have to learn to solder which I really don’t want to get into.

REASONS to make my own jewelry... 2 years ago

I love earrings and bracelets and pins, but can rarely find ones I like and when I do, they’re expensive. I’m not as good a designer as I would like (in many different creative pursuits) but I have a good eye, good taste, and can spot something special right away. (so I guess I’m more suited to stealing ideas… hmmm) So hidden in there somewhere is the point that it’s vastly cheaper to MAKE your own than to buy. Does not have to be particularly time-consuming, depending on what you’re making. I LOVE beads! Going to a bead shop is like going on vacation! (well, so is going to a quilt or needlework or scrapbook shop for that matter). Most things I find in stores are too busy or large, or “heavy” visually for my body and for my tastes or in the case of bracelets, sadly, not the right size… so if I make my own I can also solve those issues.

OK, over and out. Just a few reminders for myself for why this is one of my 43T.

p.s. check out the jewelry offered by sundance… (see picture above…) http://www.sundancecatalog.com

honestly, this is the type of thing I could use the most. Just a few elastic bracelets (with nice silver and crystal beads) that I can color coordinate to my outfits. This and earrings. Don’t wear necklaces. Would also like to experiment with making pins – endless possibilities there. Need to learn more technically though – I’ll probably take a class at some point.
