It has taken a long time to work on this goal, but it is worth completing someday soon.
I always have to hem my pants, and I have been taking pants to be altered, which adds to the cost of the purchase, so if I can learn how to sew it will save me a lot of money.
I think that there maybe some sewing classes in my area so I’ll have to enquiry.

It only took about a year to get to this stage! LOL. I have some fabric, and a couple of patterns to get started! :-)

I saw a magazine with some ideas for sewing skirts, and it got me thinking about what it is that I want to learn how to sew. (This would be good to have a list if I do decide to take sewing lessons).
Potential sewing projects:
1. Skirts
2. dresses
3. kids clothes (for boys, and girls)
4. special occassion outfits for boys, and girls (i.e. cute outfits)
5. quilts

I organized some of the things that I bought at the dollar store to put together a mini sewing kit.
I’m looking forward to the day that I have an ‘inventory’ of fabric, and sewing supplies that I can access anytime I like.
I also look forward to being able to hem pants or jeans.

My friend told me about Ikea’s “As is” section, and how it often has a bin for curtains, couch covers, pillow covers, etc. I found beautiful curtains, but thought that they would be too small for my windows, but were the perfect size for making a quilt or duvet covers. I’m going to sew them together and make something. It was a such a great deal too, so I’m going to have to remember to go back there periodically. I think that it works out to be cheaper than if I bought this fabric at a sewing store.

It seems like a lot of fabric stores are having great sales right now so I went to one store to find a basic “starter” kit for beginners. I bought a small sewing kit and then 2 sharp scissors.
A lot of fabric was on sale 60-70% off, but I didn’t want to buy anything without a specific pattern in mind.
The lady at the store recommended some magazines and books on sewing to find out what other supplies I’ll need to get started: I think that it’s good advice.

It’s been so long since I tried to sew anything. I remember making a long-sleeve shirt, and a couple of hats.
I found a couple of sewing classes that I might be able to take and I found someone who might be able to teach me how to sew more advanced things.
