1. Make time to get things organized (schedule it in a daytimer or write it on the calendar);
2. Divide the home into zones so that the task of organizing doesn’t get overwhelming;
3. Do a little bit each day;
4. Find a system that works for you (colour coding, putting things away a certain way, etc.)
5. Maintain your organized space, by checking on it regularly.

I discovered that if I use a clear plastic container from Ikea that I can organize all of my make-up! There is one section for each type of make-up. Antonius container from Ikea works like a charm.
Then I organized my nail polish into a caddy so that it’s easy to carry around when I want to do my nails. If I put all of my nail polis in one spot then I’ll know what I have so I don’t end up buying the same colours.

I really want to sort all of my shoes, by colour, and then put each pair of shoes into rubbermaid, clear, plastic boxes, labelling each box with a printed digital photo on the outside of the box to indicate what’s inside.
I think that having all of the same kind of storage containers will make my closet look neater, will make it easier to find the shoes, and make it a ‘treat’ to find my shoes when I’m in a hurry.
I don’t think that I have a lot of shoes, but I’m sure that my husband would beg to differ! LOL.
I would really like to do this, but I’m not sure how much it will cost (money, and then time). I don’t think my husband will like this pet project so it might have to sit on the backburner for a while.
It might also be challenging to find one store that has enough boxes for the shoes.
I’ll just post it here until I think it through more. I don’t want to go to the effort to do this is if it won’t work.
I’ll probably get started by sorting shoes by colour, and then doing a quick count to see how many shoes that I have. I think that the boxes would also be a way to keep dust from gathering on my shoes.

It makes it easier to find things, and it makes stuff look neater, and organized.
I’m also discovering that as things get organized that I actually have more space than I thought that I did! :-)

The piles of paper of slowly getting organized. I’m in the process of taking them out of shoeboxes. I’m never going to use shoeboxes to store papers!!!!

I put them into cloth containers that I bought at Ikea. These containers have zippers, and hold about 27 CDs. I also designated a space for them so that they will stay organized. It’s amazing how much space I have in my hall closet; I guess that I just wasn’t using it to its full potential!
Things are slowly getting organized… it’s definately a work in progress!

I knew that I would need a lot of time and patience to deal with this goal. I try to do a little bit each day, and remind myself that it’s important to finish this goal so that things get organized.
I think that getting things organized will help me to achieve balance in my life, and help me to focus on the things that matter to me.

I remembered to buy tape for my label machine so I’ll be busy labelling everything in sight! Ha ha ha! :-)

I finally got around to cleaning and organizing my 3rd hall closet. I’ve been dreading it, but I’m soooo happy that it’s finally organized. I realized that there was a lot of storage space in this closet, and that I wasn’t maximizing the space to its full potential.
I removed a shoe rack and put it in my husband’s closet which opened a lot of space in the hall closet. I’m going to buy myself a shoe rack and put it in my closet as well.
Another thing that I’m thinking about doing is buying individual clear plastic shoe boxes for each pair of shoes. I’m not totally sure if this is a good idea, because the leather might not be able to breathe properly, but if I do this then I’ll be able to see the shoes through the box and be able to identify the shoes right away.
I also saw on a show called “NEAT” that you can take digital photos of the pair of shoes and tape the photo to the shoebox… I don’t think that I have time to do this, but I think that it’s a good idea if you have the time.
I should also think about getting the cedar inserts for the shoes so that I can maintain the shape of the shoes. Something to consider, but again not sure if I’ll actually get around to doing it.

I’m putting all of my cleaning supplies into a caddy that I can carry from room to room, and I’m going to have one for the car cleaning products, too.
