change my name

Got all of the paper work!

I applied for my passport today. Wow! What a wait… was in line for almost 8 hours!!!! So glad to be done this part of the name change.

I think that I have about 5 or 6 things left to do before I can mark this goal complete. I’ll probably mark this goal complete once I’ve finished all of the necessary paperwork as it could be weeks before I get some of the papers/documents returned in my new name.

Got my credit card, and ordered cheques! I think that I must be getting closer to the half-way mark of finishing this goal! :-)

I started part one of the paperwork, once I get a new ID card for this set of paperwork then I can have my name changed at the doctor’s office.

I’m going to hold off doing the passport until next week or possibly next month… I didn’t feel like spending the day waiting in line!

I changed my name at the dentist, and tried to change my name at the doctor’s office, but need some more paperwork.

Still waiting for my credit card to arrive!

I’m going to bring a good book, and some knitting with me on Wednesday when I go for my passport. I heard that I need to get down to the passport office by 7 a.m. and that I’ll probably be in line until at least 2:30 p.m.!!!! What a way to spend the day! I hope that all of my papers will be in order, and that I’ll be able to get things processed tomorrow.

I guess this is what I get for waiting so long to change my name! LOL! If had done it last year there wouldn’t have been such a long wait. Oh well. I’ll think of it as an “adventure”... I guess that it’s part of the journey of changing my name.

I still haven’t had to sign anything “official” since changing my name last Saturday.

Whoo hoo! I finally got my driver’s license! This is so exciting!

I can now proceed with changing some of the other documents. I’m basically doing the name change in batches, because it’s time consuming, and I don’t want everything arriving all at once… especially if the mail gets mixed up, and ends up in the wrong mail box (something that has been happening a lot lately!)

It feels really weird not to have ANY photo identification with my new name! I can’t wait until my driver’s license arrives, because then it will really start to sink in.

Once the driver’s license arrives, I’ll continue to change my name, and update files.

-Employment records, medical, dental, uni, and passport.

The last part will be to get my passport changed! :-)

I finally went through with it, and changed my last name on a few documents. I’d say that I’m about half way finished changing my last name; only a few more things to change before it’s totally ‘official’... In my mind, it’s changed!

It felt so weird to sign my new last name for the first time! I nearly forgot to sign the new last name, and almost used my old name.

I also got some new photos for the photo identification, unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, the photo ID only lasts until next January so I’ll need to pay to extend these pieces of id. I can only renew it 6 months prior to the actual renewal date, and I didn’t want to wait until the summer to do this so I’ll be going back in a few months.

My ultimate goal is to lose all or most of the weight by the summer so then a second chance to re-take the photos, when it’s due for renewal.

I’m just going to take the plunge, and start changing my name tomorrow (March 17th St. Patrick’s Day)! I think that it will be a lucky day to do it.

I must follow through with it, and not chicken out!

I’ll start by changing my driver’s license, and if there is time tomorrow, some of my banking information.

I’m also going to get the passport photos tomorrow, and start working on the paperwork for it.
