Many summer days as a kid I explored endless miles of woods with other neighborhood kids. We followed rivers, streams and spent countless hours swinging on vines.
Sometimes we would carve our own walking sticks for the journeys. We sometimes built forts or treehouses which we would revisit and upgrade from time to time. Once in a while we would return to find other kids playing in the treehouses that we made and they would quickly become new friends.
A couple of times there were kids that claimed our forts and became enemies of our group. Both sides would hunt down and sobotage or steal parts from each others treehouse until we moved on to more remote locations.
The most memorable of all those summers are the times swinging on vines. We really did swing out over hills and creeks while sometimes falling and injuring ourselves and it was all worth it.
