I studied privately for years, but I haven’t had a good teacher since I moved to Japan. It’s not that there aren’t any good teachers here, but I find the language barrier and ridiculous prices to be severely limiting. I also got discouraged because it seemed I hadn’t really improved in all that time. But after listening to old tapes of my lessons, I guess I really had improved after all. My main problem was that I didn’t practice enough on my own. If I can find a good teacher and take up singing again, that will definitely change.
