I have the books 20 months ago

So I have the books now but I have yet to schedule some classes. I should work out a weekend to take the course and then clear it…ideally before my wife goes back to work.

Next Steps 22 months ago

HC says he has some books I can borrow. Have decided to pursue PADI certification. Now I need to see if a weekend course is adequate, and when I can possibly get the open-water certification component. Apparently there is an on-line option – that might be worth pursuing as well.

This does not seem to be something I can do in the short term. This year’s vac plans don’t mean I need a diving certification. However it’s something I would like to attempt at some point. Goal to investigate this and see if I can fit in the training.
