No electricity for 5 days

is nothing compared to the people who have lost everything here on Long Island and in New Jersey. I will never ever take for granted a light switch that does what is supposed to do.

Work

Work, work, work. Ugh! Leave it in the office and don’t take it home with me!

Irene

No power for 26 hours, not too bad.

Remembering the important things in life

I was teaching my son to ride his bike yesterday. He still has training wheels but nonetheless he has been resistant to me telling how he has to ride. One point he dropped the bike and was very frustrated. I pulled the bike up a noticed the chain came off. Oh, I was so pissed but held myself together. It wasn’t necessarily his fault, I was just frustrated and I wanted him to just “get it” already!

As I was fixing the chain, I calmed myself quickly, reminded my son it was ok and reminded him he is doing a great job. I washed the grease off my hands and we tried one more go. This time he went down and he fell and he scraped his elbow. He screamed like it was bloody murder. I picked him up. Calmed him down. We put his bike away. I cleaned his scrape and all was well in our little world again.

You see when I got frustrated, I was reminded of a little boy named Kyle Williams. He is 7 years old and has been fighting a cancer called neuroblastoma for over 2 years. His parents are childhood classmates of mine. I just found out that Kyle is in a lot of pain, he is in hospice care now and has a possible only months to live. I was reminded that this little boy is lying in bed with a morphine drip to ease his pain and can only dream of riding his bike right now. His parents could only dream of watching their only child, the child they had such a hard conceiving, riding his bike in front of their home. Their hopes and dreams for their child going, going…

I have not met Kyle, they live in Minnesota. But but from all the stories and pictures he seems like a brave, brave, wonderful inspiration to any of us. I learned this news on Friday and have been very saddened. His parents are still trying to hold onto some sort of hope and possibly in denial that this is really happening to their child.

:::sigh::: and as I ramble… remember to hold onto your loved ones tight as I have been these past few days. PEACE!

When life hands you lemons

ask for tequila and salt!!!

I added this goal for a a very good reason

It is ALL small stuff in comparison to the BIG picture.

Last night I missed recording American Idol by one hour. My son, yes he’s 5, but nonetheless, told me he had it set to record. Then I did not realize until 9:07 it was not recording. I wanted to mostly record it for him. Now I have not really watched much this season but I like watching the finale of this show.

I was watching my other TV shows and figured I would watch with my son today. Then my husband comes upstairs and tells me who won. I got snippy at him and a bit pissed.

He reminded me it was just a TV show which I have not watched all season and I should not have gotten so mad. I told him it was the fact that I still wanted to watch the finale and he gave it away.

He is the one that reminded if he were to drop dead tomorrow, this whole fight was so stupid. There are other things going on more extreme like, babies having surgery and people losing their jobs, etc.

My quote! “When life hands you lemons, make lemontini’s. But most of all, always remember that other people will always have MORE LEMON’s to handle then you do no matter what the situation.”
