I have 34 days to go til I head off to a trip of a life time. I am heading to Mwanza, Tanzania where I will go to a small town called Buswelu to work in an orphanage for 3 weeks with the kids. I’m so excited, so nervous, but never wanted anything more than I want this right now. As everyday approaches, my mind and heart are more in Africa than they are here in Canada. I have ate, slept, dreamt, breathed this trip for the last year. I can’t wait to go and yet can’t wait to get back and share what I have learned, or….maybe I won’t come back, maybe life there would be more simple, where there are no IPODS, no NOISE, children are grateful for a reading book or a used toy.
We here have too much STUFF, what is that about?
I have one day to go and I am off, hard to believe when I started on this site a year ago I would be counting the hours down to when I would be following my dream. I suggest everyone follow thier hearts and GO! Iwill have so much to bring back can’t wait to share. All the best this year 2008.
Happy New Year!

I have come back from Africa, CHANGED! I love that country and it’s people. I volunteered in an Orphanage for 3 weeks and loved it, the kids taught me more than I will ever teach them. I miss them dearly. I will go back again next Jan. But to see more of Kenya. As much as there is alot of strife, Kenya is still beautiful and the media is ruining tourism in that country, all the turmoil is on the outskirts. There is still lots to do in the city. MInd you the boarders are closed but if escorted safetly there are no problems. I advise that anyone going do so, don’t short change yourself on a trip of a life time. The people will make it worth your travels.
THANK YOU AFRICA!
