Initial progress...

Since my birthday was just recently, I’ve made a good bit of progress on this in the past week or so (also, being at home with the family meant lots of money that would have been spent on food was available). So far it’s been quite satisfying to finally own albums I’ve listened to so many times. I placed a huge order from Aquarius that should arrive in a week or so and I’m already contemplating another one, plus I’ll be keeping my eyes on the used bins. Unfortunately, it’s also looking like I’ll have to get another shelf…

It's time...

This is for a number of reasons.

1. I feel that I should contribute something to the musicians whose music has contributed so much to my life (though I’m aware that in many cases the musicians get very little of the money spent on albums).

2. I have nicer headphones & speakers now than I ever have before, and I will only get nicer ones, and at this point I would like for the music I listen to to be of the highest quality possible. Therefore, playing from original sources (vinyl or CD, whichever the specific album was originally mastered for) is ideal.

3. I like owning things and collecting them. I feel like this is pretty universal.

4. When the music I have occupies actual physical space, it’ll be easier for me to forge through the clutter and find the albums I really treasure.

5. Obvious issues of legality. Lord knows I don’t want the RIAA trying to sue me any more than anybody does.
