Shadowchilde has written 3 entries about this goal

Not my cup of tea...

Okay, this is not something that I want to become. Therefore, I will be removing this goal from my list. I have to finish this course, even though I am not going to be a Medical transcriptionist. It was a nice idea and in the beginning, it seemed like something that I would love to do. And it might still work out… with Dragon Talk or something, but for now, I think that I will just be happy with myself when I finish the course and move on with my life.

I have gotten a seasonal job doing taxes. I can’t make enough money doing that, but at least it is something.

Later all…

Well,,, This is not as easy as I thought.

I’m having second thoughts about being a Medical Transcriptionist. After spending several weeks studying the first couple of chapters, I’ve decided that this might not be the right choice of a career. I am not very good at grammar or spelling and it is starting to show. The other thing that is starting to show is that I haven’t picked the books back up on over a month. I really have to finish this course and the other one on Medical Coding (which might be easier). Whether I get a job doing this or not in the future. I have to finish the courses. According to the school, I have 18 months to finish. So… I better get my little butt going and get this done.

So… this is the one thing that I don’t really want to do, that I have to get done. Oh well… sometimes life is like that.

Books Arrived!

Alright… My books arrived today. Now I can start working on my first class, Advance Medical Terminology. I just wish that I felt better. Today has been a really rough day. The weather has been crappy yesterday and today and I haven’t been sleeping very good.

I think that I’ve been really concerned with starting my courses so that I can start looking for a job and get some extra money flowing into this family. I’m still healing, but I’m also pushing myself really hard… at least a whole lot harder than I was a month ago.

But, anyway, I’ve looked over all the course material and wow, I have a lot of work to do. Just the first course is going to take me a while. I really need to feel comfortable with the terminology and how to spell a lot of the words. They provide an electronic dictionary, along with a CD that contains an audio example of what a lot of the words will sound like. That is one of the biggest things that I’m worried about… is how the words sound, to make sure that I’m getting the correct words.

I guess they believe that the typing speed will go from 50 lines an hour to 90. I think that it should double. A page takes about 38 lines, therefore, saying that the beginning speed on transcription is 50 lines an hour is saying that you can only get a little over a page done. That’s not acceptable.

I’ll just have to wait and see how this all works out.
