I dusted off the book a couple of days ago and going back to a win that I had decided to skip over. It was the win that has you thinking over times where you’ve binged and working through all the memories associated.

I had originally thought that this one wasn’t for me as I’m not much of a binger. Oh but I used to be, and I still have some lingering fears, anxieties and self-loathing that I should probably address.

I’m still, however, still dealing with that issue of time. I don’t expect that will change until the kids are grown and I’m retired.

Back from a relapse  — 11 months ago

I took the book with me on vacation, but didn’t crack it open once. I didn’t do any of the 4D Wins while I was vacationing in the land of fried chicken and biscuits and gravy. So, I’m trying to get back on track. I’ve been doing my 5 minute morning exercises and I’m starting up the hunger rating win and the dictator/ wild child win. Feels good to be back!

I'm postponing  — 1 year ago

body whispering for now. I just can’t do it. Pathetic, I know, but having 10 minutes of consecutive child-free time is a near impossibility for me until after bedtime and by then I’m too tired to do it. (I’d much rather hang around here:D )

Anyway, I think this would be a more valuable exercise for me once the school year has started up again. I tend to do quite a bit of stress eating then and I think this would help.

So, I’m going to go back to the hunger rating exercise, which I did for 8 days with great success but have been lapsing. Then I’ll move on.

My First Wins  — 1 year ago

I attempted doing 4 wins at once, which was too much as I kept losing track and didn’t have the time to devote to each of them. I’ve decided to do no more than three at a time, unless I’ve decided to keep doing one for more than two weeks

My first “ridiculously easy” goal was exercising for 5 minutes. I’ve had a routine for awhile now of doing some daily push-ups, crunches, etc., but I don’t always do them, sometimes for a couple of weeks at a time. I’d like for this to be a habit, like brushing my teeth, so I’m going to extend it for awhile yet.

The 2nd win I’ve been working on is rating my hunger. I start by taking a few relaxing breaths and do a quick body scan for stress, pain, etc. So far it’s going fine.

The win that I’m most surprised by is the writing with the ND hand. When I read that section, I thought it sounded a little too woo-woo for me (sorry for my highly technical vocabulary), but I tried it anyway. I don’t know if I buy the whole creature brain idea, maybe there’s something too it, I don’t know. But I am finding that this exercise is really making my mind slow down a little and acknowledge feelings that I know are there, I just ignore them. My left hand has come up with some remarkable compromises and solutions, and it continually reminds me to relax. I’ve just started a 2nd cycle of this win because I didn’t complete the first. When I’m done I’m going to try to have these conversation with myself without writing it down.
