do more volunteer work

i did the bridges program with my moms work a few weeks ago, and it was amazing. the people i met while passing out food in the city were so polite and so happy. They were all so appreciative. I even met a couple of teens who were still in high school and were taking care of a bunch of babies that we’re theirs with the help of one girl who was about my age. I was sitting and talking with them and having so much fun playing with the kids. i can’t wait until my mom’s work does the program again!

okay so i donated my old (semi-undriveable) car to an organization involving children’s cancer or something along those lines. i’m not quite sure, my mom took care of all the paperwork for me sense i’m at school. i asked her if i could donate it over a year ago and she said no because her insurance went up. but sense our apartment manager threatened to tow it for the ‘final’ time, she gave in to my wishes and gave it away.

so i suppose thats like volunteer work right? kind of? still not gunna check this goal off yet though.

I used to volunteer and the club house in my development when I lived in my old town house. I would basically help plan and chaparone activities for all the kids in the neighborhood. It was so much fun getting to know all the little ones that I’d see around all the time. I also volunteered at the local police station for about three years. before that I was a hardcore girlscout for nine years. My troop did massive collections for the county’s animal shelter. we started when we were maybe 11, and continued to do the drive every year after. We would get the permits to put over 1000 fliers stappled to bags on the doors of people in the neighborhood, and then go around and collect whatever they left out next to the door. we used to fill entire rooms at least 4 feet high. it was awesome. the first year there was only about 16 of us doing it. And by the last year we were down to 5 or 6. I want to do something major like that again.
