post randomly

Another all-nighter, but I finished the paper. Only four left this semester, all of them a breeze. This is the second all-night affair I’ve had to do over the last couple months though – don’t think I like it much. I’m gonna be dragging tomorrow, but it doesn’t make sense to lay down when I have to get up in an hour and a half.

My molasses cookies are so sub-standard I am loathe to even call them cookies. That’s what I get for relying on an online recipe when I need the perfection that the oft-tried and always true Betty Crocker can deliver. drat…

Tomorrow (Friday) is Owner’s Day where I work. We basically get a half day to go eat at a country club and look at our handiwork being used ->YAWN!!<- and listen to the big wigs flap their gums for an hour after lunch, and then hopefully win a door prize. I typically will bring a paperback and head for the can as soon as I see the suits start to approach the podium. I don’t know why my brother forces himself to sit through this crap, but we have an agreement that he texts me when it’s over so I can get back before the drawings for the prizes starts. This year we’re playing a game to win 100 bucks for each member of our 5 person team. My team is so far in 1st place, and will be named winner after slaughtering the last team standing tomorrow at the OD event. After that, I have a chance at winning a 48” flat screen tv. If I DO win, I can’t decide whether or not to put it up right away at home, or save it for a family Christmas gift. I’ll probably do the latter. Actually, I’ll PROBABLY wimp out and crack it open on my birthday or something. If I win it, that is.

...and quit screwing around. I have a moderate load of homework to chew through and an already packed schedule that is about to be encumbered by overtime – 10 hour days, 5am-3pm, til the end of December. Screwing around when I should be staying caught up is NOT in my best interest. Wake UP man! slaps self Put on the coffee and get going!

Millie’s being paid to clean up the boy’s room tomorrow; she works extremely cheap at 10 buck. After she’s done, I’ll move the desk and bookcase around, opening up the area to the rest of the basement room again. We have a flat file cabinet that I can finally move out of the garage and assemble, allowing the scads of my wife’s prints to have a much better home than stacked on top of the piano. Anyway, we have to do it. It’s no use pretending that the space will be used for what it HAS been used for anymore.

Sometimes things are a real bitch from one day to the next. I wish I could have a Twilight Zone stopwatch to use every once in a while. I’m glad things like coffee and books exist.

I woke up this morning with a couple teeth really hurting. I HATE tooth pain. I’ll have to hook up with the dang dentist next week.

...I wish I had more control over hard decisions. I suppose they wouldn’t be as hard then, if I had any real control at all. I don’t even know what I’m trying to say.

The sky calls to us, and if we do not destroy ourselves we will one day venture to the stars.

The new fall semester starts in a couple weeks. I’m looking forward to the classes I have scheduled this time around, and am hoping that I’ll have more time for the homework than has been the case.
