Snack Cupboard Replenishment 2 years ago

I did very well last week – I lost 2.5 lb (1.8 at my home weigh in). I was very good food-wise for the majority of the week (we’ll overlook the 4 chocolate bars on Sunday incident).

And that’s on top of the surprising 1.5lb loss of the week before.

Unfortunately the cheap snack cupboard at work has been replenished and now I’m trying very hard not to go and raid it. Last week this wasn’t an issue. I’ve only an hour to go before I go home and I’m trying very hard to resist.

Starting afresh 2 years ago

Yes well, it’s a New Year. I was pleasently surprised to find that I’d only put on 2 lbs over Christmas at Weight Watchers tonight.

My one aim for January is to follow the Weight Watchers diet. I am going to be doing some other things, but this is the one that I am really concentrating on.

I’m feeling positive for once about a lot of things, I really needed a bit of a holiday – from a lot of things (mainly from work but just any kind of responsibility really, the diet totally went out at Christmas, too)

The WW diet has apparently changed, but I can’t see any difference in the Points option (apart from the name), so I know what I’m doing there – I still get 17 points a day. And I’m determined to stick to that.

I think I might have made it.

I’ve been really depressed about Weight Watchers recently. For the last 3 months I’ve been encouraged to raise my goal weight above where I have set it every time I’ve weighed in. Unfortunately I set my goal at the highest point within my healthy weight range. So, I decided to measure myself again – it turns out that I’m 5’0.25” at night stood normally, 5’0.75” at night stretched up with a ‘proper’ stance and 5’1.25” stretched up in the morning. Since it’s unlikely the scientist people who came up with the rubbish BMI scale took slouching and bad posture into account I’m 5’1” for the purposes of weight loss. This means that the maximum within my healthy weight range has been increased by 4 pounds. And I was 0.4 lbs under that this morning. Yay.

This feels a little bit like cheating, even though I know it isn’t. I’m still aiming for 9 stone or a bit less as I am not happy with where I am. The main things I’m not happy with are things I can only change by doing some exercise though, so I’ll continue with weight watchers for a while (not least because I’ve still got 4 pounds to lose at my meeting weigh-in weight) and try to incorporate more activity. Yuck.

I’m going to leave this goal here as I haven’t yet reached what I feel is an ideal weight for me yet.

+2.4 3 years ago

I put two and a half pounds on over my two weeks in America. I don’t think that’s too bad. I now have five and a half pounds to lose to get to a healthy weight.

Cheating 3 years ago

Well, I’ve been really quite bad for the last few weeks, and haven’t made my healthy weight limit of 9st2. But…
I measured myself and I seem to have grown. So my current weight would now be in the healthy weight range for someone of 5’1”, but not for the 5’0” measurement I have been using.

This seems a bit like cheating though.

Fri: 18.5

Sun: 22
Mon: 12.5

Ended 18.5 down. A bit of a mixed bag this week. Some pretty good days and some really terrible days. I’m feeling more controlled now, so hopefully I’ll be back on track this week, and will not only stick to my points, but will get some exercise done.

0.8 lb loss. I’m not sure how that works, but I’m not going to complain. I now have 2.6 lbs to lose to get to within my ‘healthy’ range. That really doesn’t sound like a lot. I’m definitely feeling more positive, and I’m going to do much better this week.

Having thought about it, I shouldn’t be too surprised at the fact that I’ve lost small amount, even with the amount I’ve been eating. When you get to goal, you get an extra 6 points a day in order to maintain your weight. That means that I get 23 points as maintenance points, and I only went over that on 1 day, but I’d have easily saved that amount of points on the other days. I’ve never looked at a ‘bad’ week like that before: I realised that my bad days since being on a diet were significantly less bad than my bad days before dieting (e.g. 2 slices of pizza is now a bad day, if I oly had 2 slices previously, I would have considered that good!). Perhaps, when I start to get discouraged and feel the need to eat more than my allowance I ought to allow myself over the limit by those 6 maintenance points.

24th - 30th Jan 2006 3 years ago

Tue: 14
Wed: 14 & 1.5 bonus
Thu: 17.5 & 1.5 bonus
Fri: 21.5 (oops)
Sat: 26.5 (I can’t stop eating) & 1.5 bonus (like that makes up for it)
Sun: 23.5 (argh)
Mon: 21 & 1.5 bonus

Ended the week with -13 points saved. Yikes.

Put on 0.6 lbs
The week started well, and then I just couldn’t stop eating.

Excitment 3 years ago

I almost forgot to say. I did something very exciting on Sunday…

I bought a pair of size 10 jeans. That’s SIZE TEN. Which means I’ve now dropped 3 dress sizes. On the bottom half anyway – the top half stubbornly refuses to go less than a 16. Grr.

And…

I bought a bikini. An actual bikini. That shows my stomach.

Admittedly the bottoms are like a pair of shorts made out of swimming costume material, to make sure I hide all the parts I really don’t want showing, and the top isn’t exactly skimpy either, but still – it’s a bikini. Woo.

17th - 23rd Jan 3 years ago

Tue: 17 pts
Wed: 14.5 pts & 0.5 bonus pts
Thu: 14 pts
Fri: 17 pts
Sat: 28.5 pts
Sun: 13.5 pts & 1.5 bonus pts
Mon: 12.5 pts
5.5 saved points at the end of the week unused.

I can’t believe that I had left over points at the end of the week, after Saturday. That was a bad day – baked potato (sounds good, but it was huge), no butter, but cheese. Then I had a really lovely bar of vanilla fudge from Thorntons, and three chocolate bars. Oops.

I lost 3.2 pounds this week.

My slimgraph is looking good :) I just keep wishing I hadn’t pigged out at my Mum’s over Christmas – I’d be at goal by now.

2.8 pounds to go. And 3 and a half weeks to do it in. That sounds achievable.

I bought the Perfect Fit Weight Watchers DVD at my meeting. I’ll see what effect it has on my weight next week. It’s certainly affecting my ability to walk up and down stairs.

10th - 16th Jan 3 years ago

Tue: 16 pts & 0.5 bonus pts earned
Wed: 17.5 pts
Thu: 15 pts
Fri: 16 pts & 1 bonus pt earned
Sat: 15.5 pts
Sun: 23 pts
Mon: 17 pts
0.5 saved points at the end of the week unused.

Sunday was so terrible because I’d just watched the Paul McKenna thing and thought I’d give it a go for a day. At the end of the day I still worked out my points. Fortunately I’d saved enough from previous days so that the overspend didn’t matter. I do like Paul McKenna’s ideas, but I think I’ll just combine them with the Weight Watchers ideas, rather than swap fully. I’ve lost 2 stone using WW, so I don’t think it would be sensible to stop.

And I lost 2.2 pounds this week. Strangely from the meeting weigh ins (I count my offical weigh ins on a Tuesday morning, but go to meetings on a Monday night) I lost 3 pounds.

6 pounds and 4 and a half weeks to go…
