It’s hard to find an honest reader
For who will read these lines
only those rare finds,
my friends and english teacher
I wrote this poem for my lovers
I made three xerox copies
and with three curtsies,
gave them to family, two random others
they spent less then 5 minutes, each
with narrow eyes and chin in hand
considering “deep”, “pretty”, and “grand”,
and further deliberating on their speech
they said they loved the symbolism
the metaphor and rhyme
So sublime,
they all said, was the rhythm
and then the poem I worked at
was left dangling with a smile
and after a while,
not a word more said about that.
