Counting this as done now. Although my hip still gets sore, and is not as flexible as it was, today I have been discharged from the hospital.
I will still need to exercise and build my muscles up, but this feels like a real milestone and walking from the car park to the hospital felt really good when I remembered being dropped off at the door with my crutches, and being wheeled around there in a chair on previous visits.
Zonino – I don’t have to go back.

that has left me depleted energywise, have now resumed the exercises.
My hip has been giving me some pain just recently, not sure if this is stiffness through lack of use, or just one of those things to be endured. However in case it is the former, I have to get back into moving about after my forced rest these last couple of weeks.
Must go swimming again too.

to the top of the field and back, with the dogs, and without my stick!
Distance is about .25 mile there and back so not bad, especially considering it’s still snowy (though thawing) out there.

...and I have some more exercises to do. However I am doing well and the strength is much better so he does not want to see me again, unless I feel I want another appt. So I have an open appt for a month, which I can book if I feel I need to see him again. In the meantime I must continue with the exercises until I have the full strength back.
AND…he says I can drive again now as my leg is strong enough YAY!!!!

While practising being crutchless – I cleaned all the kitchen worktops and tidied up in there.
DH has been an absolute star doing all the cooking and meal prep since my accident – but the kitchen had turned into an almighty mess. I didn’t want to complain as he has been a brick – so I kept quiet about it and then just quietly gave the tops a good scrub when I was able.
The floor could do with a good going over now – but am not up to that yet.

well, mostly.
DH had already chipped some potatoes, so I managed to get a pizza out the fridge into the oven, and get the chips dried off and in the chip pan.
Had to rely on DH to stop the cooking process and serve up though.
It was tricky to get stuff out the fridge while on crutches and no hands free, but I got a kitchen chair strategically placed between the fridge and the work top and I was able to sit down and have my hands free while I did the transfer, and then push the stuff up the worktop towards the cooker – then move the chair and sit down by the cooker.
All very complicated but another step in the right direction.

An aged distant Aunt of mine has just died. She lived alone and was 93. Apparently she fell downstairs, and was found next morning, but too late.
I feel sad that she went this way, alone and possibly in pain, and cold and frightened. If I had been alone what would have happened to me?

at not being able to walk the dogs, or go out very far. I can’t walk far on my crutches before I get exhausted. Grrrr!!
But I reckon if I could persuade DH to get me one of these I’d be unstoppable ;))

I fell downstairs and broke my hip.
Statistically 51% (Yay that’s the majority) of people in my age group make a full recovery. 24% have ongoing mobility problems – 25% die (eeekkkk!!!) within 12 months (tho after 8 months the death rate is normal – so I need to survive until June at least!)
Each day is getting a bit better and I am noticing slow but steady progress.
