and made an offer. Just waiting to see if it is accepted. Will mean a lot of work, but will move me in the right direction.
And if you don’t ask you don’t get, and it looks like a major coup for my website has been made by asking. Just waiting now for a response to the all important text message to see when (not if) this can happen!!
excited
I’m just back from a weekend in Corwall where I spent most of it in Truro Hospital. Not exactly what we had planned.
The first morning (Sat) I awoke with a pain in my side which, in spite of aspirins and liberal application of ibuprofen gel, got gradually worse as the day wore on. By 3:00 I was struggling to get my breath, but thought it was the pain that was restricting my breathing (deep breaths caused a sharp gasping pain).
So we decided it was best to go to the nearest A & E in Truro. Thank God DH insisted we do this, or I might not be here!
I spent the rest of Saturday and Sunday on a trolley, and all Saturday night on oxygen.
The diagnosis (after so many tests I forget) is Bilateral Pulmonary Embolism. Most likely caused by a DVT forming on the trip down in the car (7-8 hours – it’s not just plane journeys that can cause this!) which then moved to my lungs.
They allowed me to come home on Sunday on condition I transfer my care immediately to the local Health Service, normally it is at least a 3 day stay in hospital. I need a further anti-coagulant injection in my belly today (and waiting now to hear if I can do this by going to the GP or if I have to go to the local hospital), another blood test tomorrow to check the coagulation levels, and am on large doses of warfarin and pain killers.
Apparently I will be OK once the clots disperse, but may have to stay on the warfarin…I might get off it after 6 months if this is just a one off.
Speaking to a guy the other day who mentioned this to me. I tink it is just my thing and I need to look into this some more. Hmmm… the study of Happiness
Just heard that a friend has inoperable cancer, and is about to start chemo. We thought he had beat it, but it’s back, and it is in all honesty not looking good for him. He’s a fighter though and he’ll certainly give it a good run I’m sure.
One thing to be thankful for is that he packed up work a few years ago and has had some quality time with his wife outside of the corporate mayhem we once both worked in. So glad he did that, he’s a carpe diem sort of guy.
A friend phoned me yesterday and suggested we went out to a concert. Anne-Sophie Mutter playing Mozart.
Afterwards I got the chance to meet her and she signed my programme. I explained that I was a late starter to learning the violin and asked if she’d write something inspirational to keep me practising.
“Wolfgang is waiting for you…” I think I will play Mozart tonight and see how it goes!
My day yesterday at work, all part of a days’ work apparently. I really love this job sometimes.
Drive to RAF Scampton (petrol costs paid for)
Listen to a few speeches (only downside of the day)
Get given lunch
Get taken to the runway where I am allowed to stand right next to a bright red Hawk in a line of 9 (can you guess where I’m going on this one)
Move away (though only slightly) from the 9 bright red Hawks as RAF’s team of top pilots arrive and take a charge of a Hawk each.
Watch in awe as Hawks take off in pairs (so close)
Watch in even more awe as the Red Arrows start practising ready for their season which starts in May, directly overhead.
Get taken back to car
Drive home.
Who had the same surname as an old friends maiden name. So I asked if she was related and she was. Now I feel guilty for losing touch with the old friend. She will have to go on my ‘contact friends’ list.
I’m definately seizing the day and up for it too. What a wonderful idea. Not one for letting this opportunity pass.
