2013 - Captain's Log

JANUARY
Track my spending for a month.
COMPLETED

FEBRUARY
Be in bed by 10:30 p.m. on work nights (started 2/9)
COMPLETED, mostly. There were a few nights when I couldn’t fall asleep, but I was at least in bed by 10:30 p.m.

MARCH
Plan meals for the week, and stick to the plan
NOT COMPLETED. I picked a terrible month to try this goal out. Maybe later on, like in the summer, I would be more successful – but in the month of March, I didn’t have a single week where I was home before 8:00 p.m. on more than two days.

APRIL
Finish vocal charts for pop show

Pay off one of my student loans
COMPLETEDWOO HOO!

AUGUST
pay off my gas card
COMPLETED (but now I have debt on my Visa again, dammit)

SEPTEMBER
Write the rest of the semester’s curriculum for the new class.
FAILED, and right now I don’t give a fuck because I hate teaching this class.

OCTOBER
Project Wardrobe(s)
COMPLETED

NOVEMBER
unsubscribe from marketing emails as I receive them, instead of just deleting them
COMPLETED

DECEMBER
Try not to be such a curmudgeon during the holidays.
COMPLETED

I think I’ll make this one of my resolutions next year. I liked having one big project or goal to work on each month, and putting lots of energy into mainly that goal. I’ll still be keeping my ongoing goals on my list as well, but having a monthly project is good for me for keeping focused, and allows me to change focus as my needs and circumstances change.
