I told my wife that I loved her this morning, and she asked me what I wanted from her.
It’s kinda sad that my wife wants to know what I want from her when I tell her I love her, but I guess that’s to be expected. I’ve never really been the affectionate type, and things like “I love you” are just known… and I’m okay with that, but she’s not.
So I’ve been telling her I love her more often so that she can audibly hear the thing that I think all the time, but never say. That’s healthier, right? Even though I don’t need those things, she does, and I want to make her happy… so there I go.
I spend a lot of time telling my kids that I love them, but I need to spend more time playing with them, otherwise I’m afraid that they’ll grow up thinking that love is all words and no action. Again, this is something that takes a buttload of effort from me, because it’s just not how I’m wired… but I’m trying, and I hope they’re noticing.
