I’ve got this thing where I’ve always wanted to adopt instead of having my own kid—because, hey, if there’s room in my life for somebody else, why bring a new person into the world when there are all those people out there who need a family? Plus both of my parents are bonkers, and any natural child of mine would be born thinking he’s a tea cozy.
Ever since I was little I wanted to adopt a baby from China, but if I stay single that might turn out to be impossible, because of the strict laws and the huge bribes involved. I might just wind up adopting from the US—not a white baby, though. Americans only want white babies; there’s a freaking waiting list for them. Blech.
