But I’ve got a fair enough handle on the instrument. I feel comfortable enough to tell people I play trumpet, or at least as comfortable as anyone would be saying that, really.

Sneezonaut has written 5 entries about this goal
I need to make more tangible goals. As for this one, I’ve been playing trumpet in public for over a year now. There are kids in the school band who don’t even know I played anything else before. I want to check this off. I don’t know when I will. Maybe when I can play a cover of “Black Magic Woman.”
Ooh. I think I’ve got it.
One week ago, I played the trumpet for the first time in concert for the school band.
I’d say that’s pretty public.
It was a blast! I love it so much more than clarinet, which is what I’ve been playing for a few years. Time just flies by when I’m practicing trumpet. It’s…well…wonderful.
I’m still not going to check this one off as “done,” though, because I’ve never actually taken lessons, so for all I know, I could be doing this all wrong.
I’m going to take lessons this summer, though. I’m going to make myself.
Tomorrow is the first day I play in class. (I take band at my high school. I play another instrument, but I decided to switch because, believe it or not, trumpet is cooler.)
Already.
Aaahh!!
I’ve officially started on this one. Today was the second time I actually practiced, and I can now play one scale, haha. I can only play about five notes with real control and confidence, though.
Control…is hard. I don’t know. My natural note was a G, so sometimes when I try to play middle C, the first thing you hear is actually the G and then I break into C in a fraction of a second. It’s quite ugly.
But I’ll get there.
Woohoo!
