A certain measure of victory has been achieved. I have finished my first complete new bottle of Burt’s Bees. In the trash.
The smell of the Burt’s Bees was starting to get overwhelming, as was the oily residue once my skin reached a baseline level of moisure. So, I bought a few new moisturizers during the after Christmas sales to try out. The Nature’s Gate herbal moisturizer is pleasantly unscented (though it still smells like “lotion”), but it’s so so so thick that there’s a white film all over my body, even after I rub it in really really well. That absorbs in a few minutes; no residue.
I’m trying to decide when to call this one “done”. If I call it complete, will there be any extra motivator to keep doing it?
I think I’ll wait till I’ve made it through the whole winter with soft skin before I declare victory. If I can keep this up for another 3 months, I can keep it up for the rest of my life.

Today I shaved my legs. Being Saturday morning, I was able to take my time, be careful, and do it right. It’s been a very, very long time. But, between the hairlessness and the regular moisturizing, I don’t think my legs have ever been this soft. It makes me want to shave more often.
Another treat today was because I’m visiting my parents, I was able to get my mom to put some lotion on my back. This is the hardest part of my moisturizing challenge…most of me is getting nice and soft and supple, and my back is just as scratchy and dry as ever. I may have to come home more often.

So, I’ve been doing really well on this one. But between my massive amounts of skin and it being really, really dry, at this rate I’ll go through a bottle of Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Lotion every week. I’m hoping as my skin retains more moisture, it won’t take so much to maintain a certain level of softness. In the meantime, I’m looking into buying the stuff by the case: I like the smell, it smooths on nicely, and doesn’t leave an oily residue. And if I don’t run out, I can’t have an excuse not to use it.
