publish my book

Ha. the last entry sounded incredibly idealistic. Im funny like that. Not to mention the fact that I didnt do grub st…but then again I moved to the other side of the country. Yeah. Ok. For reals. It is coming along. The goal was to be done by new years…and that is not exactly happening…but i did finish the second section (day of new years eve! woot!) and feel very satisfied with it. Ok, the goal now is to get the last part done…by the end of January. Yep. Ooh, and I have tomorrow, new years day off, and I am hoping it will be prolific. Also I did actually sign up for a writing class, which starts in two days. Woo hoo. Here’s to goals. And the new year. :)

Ok now I am working on a MUCH more polished version. Aside from a few grammar/typo issues, I feel pretty confident about the first section, which is about 90 pages. My deadline for a very polished and structured rough is end of August…and I plan on taking a memoir writing workshop in July at Grub st if I can get them to subsidize half the cost.

I am really freaking passionate about this piece of work and I want this more than anything else I’ve wanted. More than anything else on this list right now. And damn it, I am going to do this.

When I was a kid I wanted to be a writer…and in high school..and I don’t know why I abandoned this for so long because I love it. It will happen.

deadline for the rough draft is may 1st. Thought it was near done before when clearly I wasnt. Been doing tons of editing. Taking shape. can see the end in sight

Rough draft done! approx 200 pages. Next step: Join writing group to workshop. Im still too vulnerable to give to anyone I know, and its still kind of raw.

Im really close to having a complete first draft that Im somewhat satisfied with. Not that Im at all there yet..but regarding publishing, talked to Iz’s friend Rick who said that you can put your stuff up on amazon for sale for only $99. Some sort of self publishing element through amazon. Need to look into this. In the meantime,printing, re-reading-more editing.

@147 today. Im starting to get excited because Iz formatted what I have so far and with book dimensions..and chapter spacing etc…it turns out my 75 odd single spaced pages are really closer to 180 double spaced and formatted. So..maybe I only need to write like twenty more pages. And suddenly im re-energized and re-inspired so I definately feel like that is possible!

It feels like its done…and yet, a book really needs to be at least 200 pages. And I hate that I have to subscribe to this commercial nonsense…but I really do hope to one day do something with this piece. And so Im going to try really hard to flush it out without watering it down. But 55 pages of flushing.Oy. I don’t know! I think the new goal is going to be to write one page per day-less daunting-and then, in two months, I will really be done.
