I have just finished Black Light by Stephen Hunter. I have to admit it was a little dissapointing compared to Dirty White Boys. It was okay. Not much more to say :p
I have just started The Bone Collector by Jeffery Deaver and is looking to be a much more exciting book.
I anticipated doing this goal for a year, but seeing as I have read 12 books in 6 months, I think I can tick it off as done. It is definatly a great goal, I will be keeping it up.

A couple of days ago I finished reading ‘A Catcher in the Rye’ By J.D Salinger. I know this book is a staple american classic but I was taught Shakespeare and Dickens in Rainy England, I heard a mention of it about a month or so ago and using the newfangled library website found out the local library had it in English and I reserved it.
At first I really hated it, I really did but I persevered because I had heard the rumour that psychopaths and serial killers often had read it….or something like that the husband told me. (Its stands to reason A LOT of people have read it and thats a bit of a jump to make but it piqed my interest anyway)
And also its a classic so there must be something to it.
The more I read the more it grew on me especially Holdens relationship with his sister. By the time I finished I kinda went ‘huh…..That wasnt that bad.’ So the writing style did my head in, but I have to bear in mind its late 1940s and in the US. The story made me think a bit but if I hear ‘crumby, phoney, lousy, or goddam’ in the next month or so it will be too soon.
A few days ago I finished ‘The dead poets society’ a book written after the film but still pretty good. Havenwar and I had a late night abd I did the majority of the book in two hours. Its not the most gripping of stories but it makes you think.
“I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life… to put to rout all that was not life; and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. “
I finished the book ‘The old man and the Sea’ by Ernest Hemmingway.
It must be one of the more unusual yet simple books I have ever read. I think there is a lot more to the story and its morals than is what is written on the pages.
I read ‘The last victim’ by Jason Moss and some PHD fella. I bought it cheap on amazon about a year ago and really enjoyed it the first time I read it, Though I got nightmares! I think I really overloaded myself of serial killer and crime books :p
The second time round, this time round I didnt enjoy it as much, the first time I read it I was sat on a two hour bus ride and it was a page turner, now i’m not as gripped. I really could skip the first ten chapters as Jason Moss’ arrogance and self inflation really does chaff after a while. A good read and Id probably read it again.
The Writing on the Wall’ by Lynne Reid Banks -
I have had this book a loooong time, I remember reading it in school and really enjoying it but havent read it since. I spotted it the other day and thought it was time to pick it up again. When I opened it up I realised it was actually a school library book (Sorry Mrs Harwood!) I read it in about two days as its not too long and easy reading. I cant say I enjoyed it as much this timie round and being a lot older but still a good book.
This completes another goal of mine as well, after all this time I have finally read Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome.
Its a classic and its quite obvious with the language and writing style though it still made me chuckle out loud at some points. It has its good bits but the other bits can be a bit windy.
I found you end up talking like an Englishman from 1890 after reading for ten minutes or so, as a warning! Im glad I read it but I dont know how soon I will be keen to read it again.
I have just finished reading the last Patricia Cornwell book (I think) All That Remains…It was alright. Yeah thats about it. It was alright. I would keep readin her books are they are pretty easy going and not taxing but I certainly wouldnt shell out for them (Unless I get them at the red cross again)
I have also read Dracula in ‘LättSvenska’ which was pretty smooth but certainly more of a challenge for me to read. I have a whole armful of books to read in Swedish and Im looking forward to it.
Last nigth I finished reading ‘Dirty White Boys’ by Stephen Hunter. I read it about three days and its the best book I have read in a long long time. I have spend ages looking for authors who I actually enjoy reading and I think I have found one. Im a bit gutted to find out the library only has this one in stock so I might have to buy cheap copies from ebay now that I have realised the story continues, or should I say backstory.
Its quite a violent book, not one for the tender minded, and also stars a lot about guns, which has lead to some interesting conversations in the apartment.
I have also read Hellblazer Fear and Loathing by Ennis and Dillon, which has inspired my Preacher goal :D
Trace by Patricia Cornwell,
Number three of the four books I have, though I doubt I am reading them in the right order as one guy is alive in this book that was dead in the last. Still this is the best one I have read so far of the tree and I enjoyed it. The ending was a little weak again but not terrible. It seems the book doesnt focus so much on the catching of criminals as more on the forensics and mental work to get there, which is okay for me.
The next one is a Kay Scarpetta one then its definatley a case of getting a library card as Im not quite in the frame of mind to read Swedish books yet, and the person who stocks English books at the library seems to have great taste! :)
