I am not sure...

I have never been truly diagnosed with OCD, but I’ve had what I believe are symptoms of it for a long time (as far as I can remember, since 5th, maybe 3rd grade while I am currently in 9th).
I am quite uncomfortable talking in great detail about my more recent symptoms (though they are quite like the others I have had which have come and gone in phases, and when I get over this one I am sure I will be more comfortable speaking about it), which will make things hard if I choose to consult a doctor, but I will describe the main symptoms briefly (please forgive the wording, it is quite hard for me to explain)-
It seems as if my mind chooses a random topic to be the target of the OCD. For example, years ago the ‘topic’ was Michael Jackson. Laugh if you will, but if I even heard his name or saw it written down, my mind would go crazy and I’d dig my nails into my palms as an “antidote” (sorry I can’t explain this. it is strange indeed)
I used to classify such behavior as fear. That I was afraid of Michael Jackson. But deep down I knew it was not fear, it was more like an obsessive discomfort on the topic and I couldn’t describe it.
If I do have OCD I know it is probably not severe, but I would like to know for sure wheather I do or do not have OCD. It is more of an nuisance than anything else, and definitely a disruption from daily life. Any advice?
