fix up my vw

I have a 1979 VW triple white convertible. Special edition.
It doesn’t have a floor in it, a bit rusted, but not too bad.
There’s one side that really needs fixing. Need to do all interior excluding the dashboard. I’ve worked on it some.
I’m actually extremely anxious to work on it more. The problem is my grandparents bought it for me and it’s mine, sure..but, it’s at their house. When they bought it for me, my grandfather planned to help me work on it. Well, it’s been about 5 months since we’ve had it, he’s hardly done anything to it. I’m trying to get it to my house. Only thing is, I could never put a floor panel in by myself, though Andrew’s dad would sure help me out..I’d rather not ask him. Anyways though, My grandfather gets pretty mad when I mention taking it to my house or if I try to work on it while I’m there he gets rather irritated and says we’ll work on it more once the garage gets up.
I actually want to do everything I can mainly by myself, of course..I need someone to guide me-but, that’s it. Welding I’ll most definetely need help with. Interior Andrew can always help me out a bit.
I’m trying so freaking hard to try to get this car to my house.
In about 7 months I’m going to be able to drive. I need a car.
I love this car so much, even though right now it’s a piece of shit. : )
I’m going to go up to their house tomorrow and talk to him about it. Try to work on it some, at least. Try to get him to let me take it.
