Big stride  — 3 months ago

I sent off $1000 to my credit cards last month, which brought that debt down to under $2000. It also paid off one card. I should be done with another card by May which will leave just the Visa and my student loan. Doubtful I’ll get the student loan paid off this year, but the Visa will be done.

Taking a big breath  — 1 year ago

and trying not to freak out. In the last two months I’ve had over $2000 in extra expenses between moving ($450) car repairs ($900) and dental ($750). That means my debt actually zoomed the other way these past months. Plus I have another dental appointment next month for a filling and I’m fairly sure I’ve maxed out my dental coverage for the year. I have been fairly good at bringing my lunch (3 days out of 5), and not spending as much during the weekends so it but I get REALLY tired of being all frugal and such when I actually haven’t really bought anything “fun” in a while and the debt still is there.

Student loan rates  — 1 year ago

Just went up. :(
After I pay off two of my credit cards I’m going to start working on this.

Have chipped the debt away to $4425.25—would have been more but I just had a major car repair bill. I’d like to see this under $3000 by October.

Long, long, long time.  — 1 year ago

Why do I have the feeling that this will be on my goal list for a very long time? The sad part is this is all valid debt—school and living related. Sigh. At least I’m chipping away at it. Slowly, but it’s going.

Refocus  — 1 year ago

I have been really good about not adding to my debt lately, but I haven’t really been focused on paying off as fast as I could. I need to start writing down what I’m spending my money on and managing it better. I have been trying to save more too—for an emergency fund…and a travel fund.

Hmm...  — 2 years ago

Why is it that most of my other goals (travel, taking lessons, etc.) involves spending more money? I’m still determined to pay off my debt, but I also want to see the world and have fun. I’m trying not to spend unnecessarily but it’s a challenge… at least it is for me.

Not so bad  — 2 years ago

Well, I figured out that I have exactly $5564 in debt with just $1100 of it in ridiculously high interest. That doesn’t seem as bad as I thought it would be. AND it looks like my job situation is about to become a little more stable (might even get benefits so I don’t have to pay all my health and dental bills out of pocket). Next, need to sit down and do taxes and figure out if I owe or get a refund.

My debt isn’t too bad—somewhere under $7000 (and that includes student loans!). I do need to sit down and figure out exactly how much I owe to everyone and come up with a plan.
