After visiting an oral surgeon and hearing that the removal of my two lower wisdom teeth could cause some nerve damage, I’ve decided that my slightly overlapping bottom teeth aren’t that noticable. He also said that the wisdom teeth “should eventually push up more, making them easier to remove in the future”

Well, my dentist wants me to look into getting my lower two wisdom teeth pulled early next year. Not that this news is unexpected—my orthodontist advised I pull all my wisdom teeth (once they came in). I now need to have a consultation with an oral surgeon to find out what getting them pulled would involve (i.e. how much money and if I should be knocked out for the procedure). My dentist mentioned that I might get an I.V. if I need to be knocked out. I’m not too enthused about that idea.
Caused me to move up my dental appointment to this morning, so I’ve hopefully inched a bit closer to completing this goal. I kept my cleaning scheduled for the first weekend in August, so I’ll probably find out then how many other fixes I need on top of getting my last two wisdom teeth pulled.
Scheduled for early August. I think this is for a filling (one I was suppose to get done in February, but couldn’t because of lack of funds). I would really like to get this goal knocked of the list this year.
I feel like this goal will be here forever… But I am still making progress on it. I’m just not able finacially wise to do it all at once. I have another filling to take care of which I think will take care of all the “problem” areas. (I really hope it’s the last one) Then I still need to get two wisdom teeth pulled (bottom two) and finally I want to get my bottom teeth restraightened—the wisdom teeth caused them to recrowd a little. Once I get all that done I’ll consider this finished.
Went in for my prep work for my crown and spent about two hours getting my tooth worked on. I have temporary crown on right now and need to return for the permanent one. I feel so exhausted from my dental adventure that all I want to do is crawl into bed and sleep. And even with insurance, I’m going to be paying a pretty penny for this. I know I’ve said this before, but I seriously can’t wait to be done with this goal, it sucks up too much time and MONEY that I’d rather put toward something else.
Root canal went smoothly—mostly because my dentist knows me well enough to drug me prior to the procedure! Not enough to knock me out or make me loopy, just enough to calm my nerves. I have to go back in about a week for the finishing crown, but in the meantime my tooth feels a lot better (OK, technically it really doesn’t sense anything anymore, but that’s a good thing considering the problems I was having.) I still have a few cavities to take care of, but I think the crown on this tooth will be the last really major thing for a while. At least that’s what I’m shooting for.
I go in for my root canal tomorrow and am starting to dread it. You know—the nervous jittery feeling in your stomach, like you’re going to get sick. I know I need to just do it, but I keep thinking that I’m going to freak out at the dentist’s office and won’t be able to handle it. Or I think something will go wrong and I’ll lose my whole tooth, or several teeth(silly and unlikely to happen, I know.)
My dentist finally heard back from my insurance company and they are going to cough up nearly 60% of the cost for my root canal and crown. That leaves me with still a hefty chunk, but much more managable. I rescheduled for the root canal for Thursday August 17 and will schedule the crown next.
