I’ve got my routines fairly well set up (decided to switch showering to night from the morning, so my mornings should go a lot faster now). I’ve also set up a weekly routine and have printed all these out plus FLYlady’s Zone Cleaning Detailed Lists. All these have been placed in my Conrol Journal, which is 65 percent finished too (still have to do the personal information section and emergancy contacts) Filing will be a major project for me for the next few weeks, but once that’s caught up it should be smooth sailing…



Morning routine 2 years ago

My morning routine currently looks like this:
1. Shower and get dressed
2. Make bed.
3. Fix hair and makeup.
4 Take night snack dishes (generally tea mug) and bedroom garbage (if necessary downstairs) and take care of.
5. Take out trash (if necessary).
6. Get morning paper (Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sun.)
7. Make breakfast
8. Check email and read paper while eating breakfast.
9. Check planner for the day’s activies.

So can you guess where my routine begans to lag? the checking email/reading newspaper. I always end up spending time browsing on the Internet (hitting 43things). I think I might have to put a time limit on this one. And the only reason that this routine is working right now is because I’m NOT working and that can’t continue indefinitely. I might also move the showering to night time because my hair takes forever to dry.

I found plastic sheet protectors and coloured plastic dividers with pockets today at Target and have started to build my Control Journal. I have my daily routines pretty well set (might do a little tweaking here and there) but I need to work on the weekly routines and the zones. I think once I get the weekly routines down, everything else will fall into place. I’m thinking that I’m going to make Tuesday my cleaning day, Monday my coupon clipping and menu planning day, Wednesday my grocery and errand day, Thursday I have night class, and Friday my paperwork and bill paying/miscellaneous day. I need to figure out a good day for zone cleaning and I also want to restart going to yoga on Mondays, and returning to the gym on Wednesdays and at least once during the weekend. I keep thinking that I’m leaving something out, or that I’m over scheduling Wednesdays… but I guess once I have the routines set it will be easier to get things done.



Night routine 2 years ago

went very smoothly—mostly because I’ve been doing the majority of the steps fairly regularly. The only things I’ve added in are swiffering the kitchen/dining room, dealing with the kitty litter and recycling the days newspapers and junk mail. My kitchen looks great and my bathroom is looking good too. Hey, even the living room is looking presentable.



"Morning" Routine 2 years ago

Or in my case “Early Afternoon Routine” since I don’t get moving before noon. Nonetheless I spent maybe 20 minutes last night defining my Morning, Night and Weekly Cleaning routines on the computer (just printed them out) so when I got up this morning they were fairly fresh in my mind. Overall the morning routine is taking me about two hours, but I think once I get into the swing of it I’ll be able to pare that down to about an hour. I still need to set up a more detailed weekly routine re: bills, shopping, errands and the like, but I’ve made some progress with this goal.

had sudden kitchen shine-athon today. After shining sink I wiped down the counters and then scrubbed down the stove and the front of the dishwasher so they both now sparkle too. This is the third day (in a row) of shiny sink. Will try to work on writing down morning routine and evening routine tomorrow.

I’m going to start establishing my routines while my roommate is gone. Hopefully, I’ll continue them when she returns.



Not looking good 2 years ago

Mainly because the downstairs portion of the apartment is only slightly warmer than the outside. (that’s what one gets when one moves into an old DRAFTY apartment). Since it’s so cold neither me, nor my roommate go down there except to forage for food in the kitchen. No, we stay up in our bedrooms—where it has to be at least 15 degrees warmer. On the bright side we’re not messing up the downstairs too much…



One thing at a time 2 years ago

Still working on keeping to a routine on a daily basis but my apartment is looking tons better. The kitchen sink is pretty much always empty (my roommate still keeps putting her dirty dishes in there despite the fact that we have a dishwasher right next to the sink) but I don’t always get around to shining it every night. I’ll work on that more this month.

The best thing that I love is I started making my bed every day and that definitely helps a lot. Now I really love how it makes my bedroom look and am slowly decluttering the rest of the room to make it into my tranquil sanctuary.

Somehow woke up at 6:10 today and managed to make it through the majority of my morning routine and got out the door only 4 minutes past my target time (7:10). Still doing well with night routines and will focus on making my mornings go as smoothly as possible this week.
