Well this had been on the list for a long time… in fact I got 54 cheers on the goal before actually getting there.
I’m attaching a quick snap I took of part of the photography section of the show (there were more boards of photographs than this… this is just one of them). I had five entries in altogether and received a “highly commended” on one of them. I’m happy with that for a first time around.
The particular entry that got the HC for is the pinkish sunset in the bottom left hand corner… it has a white tag above it (you can only just see it in this pic).

By the way, that picture that I displayed in a previous post is going in the show. There is a section for digitally modified pictures, and I’ll have two or three in that section, this being one of them.

The show I’m putting my photography in is on 10-11 March. Very close now. I’ll have to start getting prints done in the right sizes, and get mount cardboard (as this particular show requires) etc… right now.
I’ll be taking photographs at the show itself and putting them on 43Places… and will also take a couple of the photography section itself and may post one on this goal’s page here (just as I get to mark it as done).
This one has been on the list for a long time now :)

I’m going to have to go back here and get this in better light. But I think it’s worth taking a picture of. Any comments appreciated (more on the subject matter… I know how much the picture need to be re-taken).

I am only looking at the this goal on a fairly small scale. I come from a small town that has an annual exhibition for everything… there are sections for photography, cooking, crops, cattle, horticulture… you name it. I just want to put my photography in for that.
It is actually a competition with prizes of a ribbon and financial prize. Although no one does it for that reason here… the prize money is token, and does not cover the expenses of entering. People really only go in it because they are proud of their work, and for community involvement.
I would like to get into photography a little more seriously than that though (still as a hobby), and getting a second camera is going to be high on my list when I can afford it.
I won’t be able to say how the comp went until March next year, but I’ll be doing a lot of the prep work now. It’ll be fun.
