enter a cooking contest

Didn’t manage it for the town show this year. I just had loads on my plate (pardon the pun) for the show between the photography section, doing security, having my parents in town for it, and still having to work in between. I’m still exhausted. Next time though I’ll squeeze the baking in, so this can stay on the list.

This goal is kind of similar to my photography one. My small town has an annual show with many different sections to enter… Cooking, Crafts, Livestock, Crops, etc… I have always gone along to these events but never entered.

I’m not the most brilliant cook (nor the worst)... like a lot of people I just cook to get by, but feel pretty special when my cooking brings a smile to someone’s face. I am unlike my mother who really is a brilliant cook. But my real reason for wanting to do this is just to ‘be in it’... and to be involved in the biggest event we have in our community. (Oh… and to go up to the display cabinet that they put it all in and say “those are my cookies”... and “that’s my name” – lol)

There are different categories to enter in the cooking section… some of them more suitable for the more experienced. They vary a bit each year, so I’ll have to wait to get a copy of the show schedule… but I’m thinking of sticking with something like cookies or jam-drops.
