Yay! Finally, I have a beautiful, sturdy, stained, water sealed deck. Now we can put up the gazebo and furniture and a chiminea! It is worth doing if your aim is to have a backyard sanctuary to escape to.

The deck is stripped. Now we can move on to waterseal and stain. Hopefully we can finish next weekend and then we can buy patio furniture!
We hadn’t had rain in two months and it was blisteringly hot and dry. We procrastinated and didn’t strip the deck of the old seal and stain for about 3 weeks after we bought our house. As soon as we started stripping it, the rain came and it has rained every other day since. I need a stretch of about seven days of hot and dry to finish stripping the old stain/sealant, let the wood dry out, and then put down new stain and sealant. Then I would like the rain to come back because my grass is another story…
Ahh. Excitement from suburbia!
