So… because I just completed one of my goals (buy a used car) I have actually set myself back on this goal. I had used the money I’d saved so far to get the car. I’m not sad though because I feel that in the end it will help me get there. I am also considering forgoing one of my degrees to finish my time here in Richmond working to bring back the income, get teaching experience in and then moving out to get certified out there. One thing I have been doing that is certainly on the plus side, picked up a Spanish minor. Even if I move or not, I’ll be fluent by the end of the semester in one of my dearest goals.

It has arrived! 2 years ago

Ok so far I’ve got 2 yrs to save money and find a worthy car to drive me from here to there. I’ll get the car a few months before I go to get the feel of her and based on the recommendations of a good friend Enterprise buy a car sounds like the way to go. Still scouting counties but I’ve basically got it narrowed to Collin and Fort Bend. Right now I’m looking into the individual school districts and checking out what meets my demographic needs. Next summer I’m planning on flying out with my new town in mind to put in applications and go apartment hunting.

It tickles me pink that my 2007 Texas Travel Guide arrived in the mail Friday. :)

Finding a center to my heart 2 years ago

I currently live in one of my favorite places on Earth, Richmond, VA. This is my 5th year here and almost every week I find something new I love or something familiar I appreciate. My life however needs a change.

The majority of my family is in CA and I visit them at least once a year. I miss them and love them with all my heart.
My immediate family is here in VA and as much as I love them I need to create some serious distance in order to function. It would be nice to be in a location between the two points so that I can visit as I please but also stay where I am without having to give an explantion as to why. More than anything I would love to be able to share holidays between the two and just have that be the expected.

Moving to somewhere in the middle of the U.S. would be ideal, but why Texas? I love the coast, I love the desert. I want to be fluent in my family’s native language of Spanish and be able to use this skill in classes with my students. If I stayed in Richmond I would not be able to learn Spanish because I would have to be immersed in it. I could do it in Northern VA if I wanted to but I have no desire to move there.

What it comes down to is I need this. The possibilites of a fresh start and the chance of being with my entire family more than being with just a portion without picking sides… I am dedicated to this idea in my mind, that means I’m already half way there.
