Read one book per month

I read two books in February, but I’m slacking majorly for March. I’ll have to see what I can fit in within the next week or so.

This goal is off to a pretty good start. I am aabout 40 pages into The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. This is a book I have started several times, but never finished. So far it is a wonderful story. I love many things about India- the people, the food, the culture, so I am finding that I am learning even more. Plus, I am noticing some of the subtleties of the culture that I already knew thanks to my Indian friends and students.

What in the world happened???? I used to spend so much time reading- nothing could stop me! Now I have to make an active decision and major effort to read and to be honest, I miss it so much. So, here’s to more words in 2007!
