learn to speak Mandarin

Tomorrow evening is my first test. I have been neglecting my 43 things for the last couple of weeks because I have been spending most of my free time practising. The other students in my class are foreign service officers with an ear for languages…which means (poor me) who took years and years of French and can barely say anything is falling behind. So each night I make flashcards and write sentences and still feel inadequate each class. I must say it is a pretty sucky feeling. I have been practising all last night and all tonight in hopes that I can pull of a good mark on our test. I’m so nervous…

I changed this goal to learn Mandarin since this is the language that I will be needing for the next two years! I start my classes on Monday….I haven’t taken a class in quite sometime so I think my brain is going to be a little confused for the first bit! : )

I managed to learn a little bit of spanish while I was away in Peru. I was getting pretty good at ordering food and finding the bathroom by the end of the trip. Maybe I will start off by just trying to learn the basics in a few languages until I am able to move somewhere long enough to learn the language.

I’m sure you think I am over exagerating…but I am not.
Almost everyone I know can speak at least one other language.
I struggle with speaking one properly…
