I'm going to try this again as a new years resolution. 11 months ago

I did make some progress over the last year. I haven’t had fish since November 2006 and no egg dishes (omelets, quiches, etc) since last December nor have I drank any milk. What’s holding me back? [singing] CHEESE GLORIOUS CHEESE! SO TASTY AND SCRUMPTOUS!

Yea, I love mac and cheese. That and pastries (usually baked with eggsand milk products) are my comfort foods. Oh! and let’s not forget about spinach lasagna. My favorite food on the planet. What can I do? I need comforting and tasty substitutes or I’ll just end up rewriting a similar entry this time next year.

Last week a coworker said, 17 months ago

“Stephanie, I brought a treat for everyone. There’s cake and ice cream in the freezer. Are you vegan today?”

The sad part is it was said without a hint of sarcasm.

I am becoming a better vegatarian though. And the year isn’t over yet. There’s still time to keep this resolution. I think the fact that its May and I’m still talking about New Years resolutions, is a good sign.

Pasty Fix 21 months ago

Mighty O Donuts, I forgot all about these. They’re a vegan organic donut shop here in Seattle. They maybe vegan and organic but they definitely aren’t health food. I remember over indulging in these last spring and packed on some pounds. Still, I think they’ll be a nice treat- in moderation.

Still in Transition 21 months ago

No meat or poultry since January 1996. No fish since last November. No straight eggs or dairy since New Years Eve. I’ve even been able to find breads (yup, that’s plural) without milk and dairy.

The problem is I’m still occasionally eating things with eggs and dairy in them. To be specific candy and pastries. Milk chocolate, well that can be remedied with dark chocolate. I just have to find a vegan fix for my pastry cravings.

Junk Food Vegatarian to Healthy Vegan 22 months ago

That’s my goal. I went vegan New Year’s Day. I’m seeing a nutritionist to help me make this transition a healthy one.

It seems to be taking because today I decided to cheat with a couple of chocolate chip cookies. It tasted AWFUL. I just had two bites and then had to throw them out. It tasted like it was made with sour milk. I guess anything made with milk will taste disgusting now.
