Going to go do a pedicure and manicure on myself now! If I can’t reach my toes very well then hubby gets to paint them for me tonight! :-)

So, we went out to eat on the company’s dime. Wow, was it good! Mahogany Prime Steakhouse is NOT a place to go if you’re watching your spending, but great for a celebration. He had prime rib, mushrooms, corn. I had Lobster Tail, asparagus w/ crabmeat and Hollandaise sauce. We had Lobster EsCargo for an appetizer, cocktails, and we split a chocolate martini for desert (edible chocolate straws). I’ve never had such a good (or, eep, expensive) meal before. I was glad I dressed up – in heels, hose and a nice skirt and blowse. Hubby looked purdy, too. It was funa and we practically waddled out of there! I’m still full today! :-)
Son and DIL are renting a darling 2-bedroom, 1-bath, 1 car garage house, in mid-town. It’s in a quaint older neighborhood with mature trees and has lots of charm.
The duplex they’d been planning to rent didn’t work out (thankfully – since this house is much better for them).
Hubby and I helped them move on Sunday. I went yesterday to clean and put in shelf paper. My sweet sister came to help, too. The house had been vacant for months and wasn’t really ready to rent yet, so it needed lots of work to make it livable.
It’s so good they (at last) can get to unpack all the wedding gifts, from last November, now. We can start to put together the baby’s room, and get them what they need to start their little family there.
I can’t believe the season’s over.
New year’s Eve we ran a 5K called Race Into the New Year, which started at 11:45pm. Very chilly, windy, difficult fun!!! Then we had tons of food and laughs as we played games at our friends’ new house until 4am then spent the “night” there.
New Year’s Day we went to the river so Hubby could jump into it as sort of a “Polar Bear Plunge” thing with many other crazies! It was such a riot!!!
Son and DIL came over and we exchanged Xmas gifts and feasted on Rare Roast Beast (Ham actually) last night. It was so fun!
Now it’s time to find places for the gifts, clean up all the mess, put away all the Christmas decorations and start thinking of boring, new year stuff, like being all sensible about eating and stuff like that. Sigh… Maybe I’ll FEEL ready soon, if I just force myself to do it.
in FL for a few days! ALL twelve of my sweet MIL’s grandkids (including the 2 steps, 1 in-law (mine) and two new babies) were there at one point. Our Family has grown by 6 members in 2006 counting my Sister-I-L’new husband.
We had 17 family members staying at my FIL and MIL’s house, and 6 staying at a friend’s close by. It was noisy, chaotic, messy fun.
Just watching the kids open gifts exhausted me, though. I’m SO THANKFUL that God didn’t give us another baby when I prayed so hard for one (mostly when the school-age nieces and nephews were born; I was envious). Could it be He knows a bit more about what I really need than I do? Hmmm…
Christmas celebration at my Mom’s tonight! Christmas get-together with the running club at river early, early in the morning! Flying to Florida mid-morning! We’ll see everybody late tomorrow night after a long day of layeovers and then an hour and a half drive from the airport, but we’ll be there… that’s what matters. Then shopping like mad on Sunday. Then the next day’s Christmas already. Can’t believe it!
ARE joining us in Florida for Christmas after all! My sweet DIL can meet the fam’! I’m looking forward to spending this time with everyone, so much!
DIL’s father passed away earlier this month and Hubby and I insisted that we totally understood (gulp) if they stayed here with her mother (who they just moved in with) as a comfort to them both. We meant it but were still a little sad (selfishly?).
I’m not sure what changed, but I got word last night that they’re joining us! Yay! I know DIL’s mom is spending Christmas with her sisters’ families…. We invited her to join us in Florida, though.
The Gingerbread Man ran away and keeps eluding us and leaving clues everywhere! My preschoolers are getting so into it!... My favorite idea so far….”Let’s eat his legs off when we catch him so he can’t run away anymore!” Ali, age four.
