I've made real progress today!

I have big boxes full of stuff on top off all my closets, lots of them, and today I went through some of them. I got rid of three bags of stuff that I threw away, and two other bags of things are now in the attic, waiting for a flee market. Which means I’ve now cleared storing space for quite a few things that have been stored in different corners on the floor. That particular storing system has made my apparment more of an effort to clean, and it looked messy. So very happy with my progress!

2 shelves organized today

which should make it easier to actually find the clothes I have when I’m looking for something to wear. Also, I’ve removed a whole lot of clothes I had hanging in my closet that doesn’t fit me at the moment. I need to lose those 5 kilos I’m struggling with, and so I’ve kept the clothes because I hope to be able to wear them soon. But they’re taking up a lot of space, making it harder to find the clothes I can actually wear right now. Now I’ve put 3 bags of clothes away in another closet. I probably should have put them in the attic, but that felt like giving up on my weightloss plan somehow. So for now, I’ll have to find a clever space for them and keep them in plastic bags, as a treat to go through when I’ve lost some weight.
I’m thinking on giving myself a deadline on this. For instance that whatever clothes doesn’t fit me sometime this year, goes. Will have to think about that a bit.

I've gone through three shelves

in the cabinet in my hall now. That’s where I keep all sorts of dog stuff (who knew a dog needed that much stuff!;)), gloves, scarves and other things I need outdoors. I had to try to find a sock for Cora, and decided the best thing to do was just take everything out and see what on earth might be hiding in there. Turns out, what was hiding in there was a seriously impressive collection of (probably broken) umbrellas! Plus some gloves and other useful things I had no idea I owned, and a lot of dog treats that probably went past their use by-date a couple of years ago.

I finally got started on this today

I have that “A closet so full I can’t close doors, and nothing to wear” syndrome. Which means I’m holding on to lots of stuff I don’t need, and the stuff I could use is hidden somewhere in the mess.
Plus, it makes my appartment more chaotic than it needs to be, since every closet, drawer and shelf is full, and there’s nowhere to put anything.
I’ve just started organizing my clothes in a more efficient way, so it will be easier to find things. So far I’ve only gotten rid of w things, which is less than impressive, but it’s a start.
Also, I’ve discovered just how many trousers I have with the tags still on them. The reason is I buy trousers that will fit great if I only lose a few pounds.
Which tells me two things:
- If I can just lose a bit of weight, I’ll have a closet full of nice clothes that are actually new, instead of having to spend money on new clothes.
- I really need to start buying clothes that actually fit, and leave the smaller ones in the store until I’ve actually lost the weight. Seriously, it’s ridiculous.
