Compete on my horse

This is something that I know I will do in time – but I want to achieve this without sacrificing my relationship with my horse. I want to do the perfect dressage test (perfect in that both my horse and I leave the arena feeling good about what we did, rather than a perfect score).
I want to sail around a jumping course with calmness, control and a big smile on my face – and I want him to have fun doing it!
I am working on this by getting my ground work really soft in the arena and not moving forward from something simple (like keeping a soft flexion on a circle) until I feel we have both mastered it.
Once I am out of debt (see other goal) I will be able to have more lessons!
