Most of my 30s were spent living in Los Angeles, one of the most amazing cities in the world. During that decade of my life I taught in south Los Angeles, worked in film, wrote a huge body of work, deployed to Iraq, and went to Europe several times.
I feel my 30s were good because I built a lot of momentum in my 20s to do what I wanted. The fun, and generally positive experience was really the result of planning, being opportunistic, and making my own luck. I really put myself out there and made things happen.
