So far I’m 21 pages deep with this goal. The pages are peer reviewed and tight. I know it’s on the long side for a short, but that’s what I want.
The ebay props I bought are perfect (can’t say enough good stuff about ebay). The thing I haven’t started searching for is a location. Basically, all it needs to be is a large concrete bunker.

I want to do a 48 minute science fiction short set in the 1970s or early 1980s. I’ve got a story outline complete with character sketches. I’m currently collecting props and looking for a decent location. I’ve bought some Army and Air Force uniforms off Ebay.
For all you movie maker wardrobe people out there, Ebay is an excellent source. For under $100.00 I’ve picked up 25 Army and Air Force shirts, 10 Air Force dress trousers, and 5 Air Force dress jackets, and 10 complete Army dress uniforms. I already have people wanting to rent stuff.

Today I’m working on a short for a guy I use to teach with. He bagged teaching, and is now in film school (bright boy). Anyway, I’m coaching some actor on how to do military stuff. Really basic shit like holding the weapon correctly, wearing the uniform right, and basic military jargon.
Anyway, I also get some lines in a small acting bit. Actually, it’s not really acting. I did this bullshit for 8 years, so it’s more like me being me on film. Whatever, I’m ready for my closeup Mr. DeMille.
This should provide some much needed motivation to jump start my own projects. I’ve finished some military stories and own a lot of uniforms, guns, and other gear (all combat tested and Uncle Sam approved) so why not?

Met with my writing group today and came up with a short film idea. The cast is two women with a 9 to 12 minute run time. I already have the outline completed. Tomorrow I’ll knock out a first draft.
On the screenplay front, I wrote another 10 pages. I’m now at page 52 with another 40 to go. I’ll be finished around 15 August.
More to follow.
