Yesterday's Run

Did a 5km (3.11 mile) run on the treadmill in 27 mins 34 seconds. (432 calories)
Gradient varied between 0 and 7%, ran at 11kph most of the time.

11 miles!

Ran on the treadmill 11 miles (17.71km) in 1 hour 21 minutes 44 seconds (13kph)

Furthest run yet in the training programme – could’ve kept it up for the full 13 miles at that pace if needed I think.

8 weeks til raceday! :)

Week 8 Training Recap:
6.5 mile long run (was exhausted couldn’t finish the required 10 miles)
4 mile hill run
3 mile easy hill run
5 mile fast run

2 Taekwondo training sessions
Upper body weights workout at the gym

Week 9 Plan:
11 miles long run
3 miles hill run
5 miles easy run
6 miles fast run
3 miles hill run

1 Taekwondo training session
1-2 Upper body weight training sessions with my brother
1 hour football

5 mile run

Did 5 miles in 34 minutes 21 seconds. (590 calories)

On the treadmill at 14kph for most of the way (gradually upped it last 500m or so)

Had just done a quite big weights (mainly upper body) session at the gym before with my brother, also was carrying a slight injury from Taekwondo the other night (got kicked on the outside of my left thigh – slight dead leg still) – so all things considering was delighted with my time. Don’t get me wrong, it was one of the hardest runs I’ve done in a while, but I persevered! :)

Day off tomorrow, may play football Sunday we’ll see.

Extra Run

My sister wanted to go run round Arthur’s Seat today, and invited me to join her. Wasn’t planning on doing a run, but thought – why not?

I’m not bigging myself up when I say I’m the fitter of the two of us – so I let her lead and just ran at her pace.

Did 3.29 miles (5.3km) in 32 minutes. Nice and easy (at least for me!)

It was a really atmospheric misty day for running in the hills, good to have someone to run with for a change as well!

Another hill run

Ran on the treadmill, gradient was between 0 and 7%, increased speed gradually from 9kph to eventually 11kph.

7km (4.35 miles) in 41 minutes 8 seconds (602 calories)

giving excuses? maybe!

Didn’t manage the required distance today.
Ran 10.5k in 45 mins 10 secs. Was supposed to do 16.1km

Still not recovered from Saturdays huge drinking session, also got a bit overconfident and set the treadmill half a kph faster than last week. Was getting blisters from wearing wrong socks, legs were feeling numb and above all got a killer stitch in my right side that I couldn’t run off even by reducing the speed. Still a great time for the distance I suppose!

Week 7 recap / Week 8 Plan

Week 7:
10 mile long run
5.6 mile hill run
3 mile fast run
2 x Taekwondo Training (3 and a half hours total)
1 hour football

Pretty happy with my progress.

Week 8 Plan:
10 mile long run
4 mile hill run
5 mile fast run
3 mile easy run

2 Taekwondo training sessions
1 hour 5-a-side football

Race day is 8 weeks on Sunday! :)

Pushing it!

Ran 5km (3.11 miles) on the treadmill in 18 minutes 35 seconds – almost a minute and a half faster than 6 weeks ago! 360 calories.

Ran 3/5 of the distance at 16.5kph before dropping to 16 then 15.5kph for each of the last two kms. Upped it to 16.5 for the last 100m again.

Legs felt good, really felt my heart and lungs doing overtime though! Also had a slight stitch in my right shoulder, nothing major.

Really happy with this time! :)

Hill run @ gym

Did a hill run on the treadmill, gradient varied between 0 & 7%.
Started at 8.5kph, upped to 9kph after 30 minutes, then 10kph for the last 15 minutes.

9km (5.59 miles) in 1 hour (789 calories)

Also had a really good taekwondo session today, my left calf is a bit tight but otherwise ok!
