Only the ‘Donna Hay’ pot with coriander and basil is still alive. Everything else has pretty much withered away, and I don’t know why. When I say everything else, I mean the 3 other pots I had coriander, basil and chives. The latter never bothered to come out of its shell and coriander and basil just gave up at some point after a fairly successful start. Oh well.
It’s disappointing and I’m not sure I want to repeat this excercise again.. or maybe I will but with less expectations and high hopes.
Where did it all go wrong? ;-)

Last Sunday I bought this package with 3 pots including seeds and compost for coriander, basil and chives. I planted them and this morning I noticed tiny little bits of shrubs or greenery emerging…
It’s a nice thing as the other pot didn’t really work out.

I noticed a few days ago some green shrubs coming through so hopefully it will soon gonna be a fully developed mini herb garden :)
I’m really pleased about this as it will encourage me to plant some more seeds and eventually I wouldn’t have to get all my herbs from the supermarket.

Well it’s not exactly a herb garden, but you gotta start somewhere, right? I saw in the supermarket these little pots with ready made mix and seeds included so I bought one of those. Coriander and basil here we come :-)
A couple of days passed, and the pot stared at me from the table alongside cat food, absinthe, pears and a bottle of greek metaxa. I couldn’t leave it there so yesterday when I had loads of time I decided to plant the seeds.
And I did. Hurrah. Now the little cute white pot is sitting on the window sill and hopefully something will come out of it.

I was thinking about it when I came home today.
Will I do it – put some pots out on the window sill this spring, make it happen. Grow my own herbs and stop buying overprized stuff from supermarkets – you don’t even know how fresh it is.
Well.. That would involve effort, right. Going to Homebase e.g. and doing it.
I already have herbs! I got rosemary growing in a pot.
We dumped the pots in the garden when we moved here 1,5 years ago.
I remarked to R “wow, isn’t that rosemary blossoming – and look at those roses”
He said “yeah, well those pots are now part of the earth… they grew roots..”
They were supposed to be there temporarily :)
But they wanted to grow roots, have a link to the Earth and be there.

It is Mid November. The leaves are falling from the trees.. Summer is long over. The gardeners have done their harvesting, picked their berries and potatoes.. marvelled at their salad gardens and.. oh the herb garden.
You know, I still don’t have a herb garden. I wante to make a little one in a box and put it outside on the windowsill.
But I wonder when that’s gonna happen?
