Today I met a hummingbird I named Julian. He flew into my garage and then flew into the door. Being the huge animal lover I am, I rushed to his side and started keeping him warm and giving him sugar water. I tried to find the number of a rehabilitation center. Eventually I found a woman an hour away who would take him – but when I went to put him in the car I noticed the poor guy was dead. It broke my heart. It made me realize just how short and precious life is. And now I’m thinking what I could’ve done to make a difference. I wish I could’ve saved him, but I’m going to do my best to save anyone else – whether it be a bird or a human. And I’m not going to stop at one. I’m going to keep trying. But for now – one would be great.
