get a degree in sociology

I was aware a year ago that my store would be closing in 2010, and I knew the rules for transfer and severance. I made plans to come back to NY, I want to go back to college and get a degree in sociology. I want to know why we are the way we are, why we do what we do. I hung on at work until they had to pay me to leave. I took the money, paid off any debts, paid bills ahead of time for the next six months. There isn’t much on the Eastern Shore for adults returning to school. It took three months to find a place to rent in New York. I am arranging to have my home rented, I hope it works out. I have enrolled as a student in Ulster but I am unable to attend because I have to wait a year for in state tuition. They won’t even provide assistance, because I am on unemployment from Maryland. Maryland won’t provide assistance because I am going to school in NY. So…now I get to sit here, collect unemployment, and wait around instead of going back to school. Step one feels like a big step backwards.
