Get accepted into a PhD program that will give me the tools to teach Literature, Women's studies, and African American studies with passion, dedication, and a whole lot of knowledge.

Been accepted. Decided not to go. This was a really hard choice. Undertaking doctoral study, for me at least, is something that I have to be passionate about. I was passionate about it. I was passionate about my MA and now I am passionate about my new ventures.

I cannot see myself writing papers, preparing for exams. etc. I just can’t. Right now, I am a student of the world and it is time for me to begin making more of a contribution to making it a better place.

I begin teaching this summer—three courses! Race, Class & Gender, NYC History & Culture and 19h Century Black Women’s Narratives! Tuesdays and Thursdays! Go me!

I am not sure how it went. It seemed to go well, but then again, maybe not. Since it was via telephone, I could not accurately judge their thoughts. Oh well.

My first choice school wants to interview mw. Let’s see where this goes!

I received a rejection letter from my not so top choice school last week. That’s OK, ‘cuz they have no idea what they are missing.

All my applications are in! Now, all I have to do is wait…therein lies the rub.

My schools and fellowships now have:

• Recommendations
• Transcripts
• GRE scores

I am going over my last application this weekend and sending it in, then I will be able to post that the process is complete!

I have one more application to complete. I have to upload a few documents, pay the fee and that’s it! I am really looking forward to beginning school all over again. In a few weeks, once I receive my W2 form. I will fill out my FAFSA and keep up this momentum.

One of the schools that I am applying to sent a personal email letting me know they had received my transcripts (both BA and MA) and they cannot wait for my application—which I vow to finish before Christmas! Yea!

GRE scores have been requested and sent to schools and fellowships that I am applying for. Another thing off the list.

One of my school choices is having a “special.” If you complete your application in December, there is no application fee! I’ll be done soon!
