CSULB? 2 years ago

Now that i live in Long Beach, i thought about transfering to “the Beach” but i hear it’s harder to get into than the other Cal States. I’m not sure anymore if i even want to continue to school or just settle with my AA. I’m not really that passionate about wanting to be a teacher and last semester was my hardest to get through, and it wasn’t even the classes, which were pretty easy, and i got B’s. I just don’t have the desire to go anymore. I have a lot of units, but not the ones required for teaching. I don’t like chemistry, geology, biology, and all that junk. I took other classes that would fulfill the same categories in different majors. Even if i get an English or History degree, i’d still need all that for my credentials. Then there’s all the work for being a teacher.

Eh, but i digress. Point is, i think it would be a really unwise move for me to continue with my education at this point in time. Why spend the time and money if my heart isn’t there? I’ll use this semester to think about all that and see what it’s like to not be in school.

I don’t see this happening for various reasons.

1) Private school=expensive. I’m from California, so i couldn’t get any state grants, my GPA is too low, i have no special talents, and i’m too white to get any scholarships.
2) I would last a while, loving the new surroundings, but i would probably eventually get homesick for my life back here. Plus, i don’t know i could last the winter.
3) Where to live? I have to find a place to finish THIS semester, and then find an apartment out there (but it’s so cheap), and then stay out there during the summer!? I once had a plan to work at Cedar Fair and rent an apartment out in Sandusky, OH, but i can just imagine my homesickness at that point.

Hmm, the only reason i didn’t try to work out there this past summer was because of summer school, but i dropped my classes. I’m pretty mad at me about that, because i was retaking two classes to raise my GPA. They were dumb classes, but i had to fix previous mistakes. That’s my deal this semester too. They are all retakes.

Application Process 3 years ago

I’ve applied to California Baptist University in Riverside, CA and Geneve College in Beaver Falls, PA, but i still have things to complete on each of those applications. It’s hard for me to get teacher recommendations because i never really talk to my professors, so i wouldn’t know who to ask, but i have someone in mind for one. For the 2nd, i was thinking of asking my pastor, but i don’t know how good that is for publics unis. I am also applying to CSULB because i might be moving there. I’m just about done here at RCC. Only went again this semester to raise my GPA. I better remember to apply for my associate’s degree.
